Robert Croft

Robert is Head of Brass and Percussion.

I started playing trombone when I was eight years old, after having been inspired by some brass teachers from Berkshire Maestros who visited my school. I played in lots of different Maestros bands and orchestras, and then went onto play in some of the UK’s national ensembles too. I studied trombone at Trinity College of Music, and whilst studying in London I played with some of the top London orchestras, jazz bands and brass bands in the UK.

Alongside playing, I started to teach brass and have worked at various schools and music services inspiring young people to make music. I returned to Berkshire Maestros in 2009 to become the head of Brass and Percussion. I am so proud and happy to be giving back to the organisation where I received my outstanding music education, and grateful to be making music with BYSO, an ensemble which holds so many fond memories of amazing musical experiences for me.
