Izzy is Chair of the Berkshire Maestros Youth Advisory Board.

Music, for me, is my greatest passion and it is an honour for me to be the first chairperson of the Berkshire Maestros Youth Advisory Board. I currently study music as a choral scholar at Wellington College, have lessons in voice and piano, and sing in BYC. My hope is to study music at university and to eventually have a career in Opera. Music is my life.

The benefits of music are endless: social, mental, physical and spiritual. Music surrounds us, it’s a part of all of us and I cannot imagine my life without it.

I owe my love of music to Maestros, who introduced me to the subject through their School Music Education Plan, however my passion really started when my teacher recommended taking up the piano to help concentration (thanks for the solid advice Mrs Peddel!) I started lessons with my first piano teacher, Natalia Allen, through Maestros and I’ve never looked back. I’m now working towards grade seven piano and grade eight voice – I can’t believe how far I’ve come!

I also owe many fantastic experiences and friendships to the Berkshire Youth Choir: Performing on stage at the Royal Albert Hall, recording for BBC radio 3 and Premiering a Hans Zimmer piece for the BBC proms. I would recommend BYC to any young singer in Berkshire.

When I heard about the Youth Advisory Board, I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to give something back to Berkshire Maestros as an organisation. I hope that my contributions might help another young person find a passion for music and start their musical journey.
