Berkshire Maestros Job Opportunities Berkshire Music Hub
Reading Music Centre

Berkshire Maestros' Reading Music Centre delivers music lessons, choirs and instrumental ensembles for children and young adults in the Reading area. Based at Stoneham Court in Tilehurst, the centre benefits from excellent facilities including 12 teaching rooms (several with pianos) and 4 larger ensemble rooms, as well as a Saturday morning tuck shop.

The centre is a buzzing environment with high quality musical education at its heart, providing young people with a safe and friendly environment to learn and make new friends.

To find us, please enter the Prospect School site from Cockney Hill and progress through Prospect School's own car park towards our building. Two car parks are available to the side of and behind the music centre.

At Reading Music Centre we facilitate lessons after school and at the weekends in a wide range of instruments and styles to suit all (subject to the availability of our teachers). We have a large number of teaching rooms of varying sizes to run the lessons in and parents can wait in our reception area if necessary.

Lessons are fun and interactive and provide children with the skills and knowledge to become excellent musicians. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and can build up to music examinations or simply focus on the enjoyment of playing. It might also be possible to hire an instrument from us if you are interested in lessons but don't own an instrument (subject to availability and our usual terms and conditions of instrument hire).

Find out more about the range of lessons we offer.

Greenham Trust is offering financial support for children attending West Berkshire Primary Schools taking music lessons with Berkshire Maestros. Through the Greenham Trust Music Bursary Fund a £50 subsidy each term is available on any group or individual lesson. To qualify you child must be at a West Berkshire Primary School, not in receipt of pupil premium and not yet having an instrumental or vocal lesson through Berkshire Maestros.

Click here for full details and to download a form that must be completed by your child’s head teacher.

N.B. The Greenham Music Bursary is currently fully allocated, but we anticipate small amounts of money will become available in the future and we are therefore operating a waiting list. Please complete the form and submit it as normal; as and when money becomes available we will be in contact with those people who are at the top of the waiting list.

As well as lessons, Reading Music Centre provides an opportunity for young musicians to join a wide variety of musical ensembles. These range from Early Years classes with Mini Maestros, through beginner bands to the most advanced ensembles in each area. Opportunities are available for string ensembles, wind ensembles, brass bands, percussion ensembles, choirs and guitar bands, and also contemporary workshops/sessions for rock musicians. Classes in music theory are available to those wanting to improve their academic music knowledge.

Ensembles provide a perfect opportunity for young musicians to enjoy playing as part of a team, improving and enhancing many areas of their learning. Their knowledge of repertoire will be extended and they will learn more about techniques and musicality.

Ensembles also enable young musicians to come together to share a joint passion and create new lasting friendships.
